Her departure will be among the first from high-profile administration posts since Obama took office in January of last year. The White House gave no details or reason for her stepping down. Rogers drew fire, including calls for her resignation, after Virginia couple Tareq and Michaele Salahi managed, without an invitation, to slip into the November 24 White House state dinner for Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The gatecrashers — Michaele and Tareq Salahi — got face time with the president, having waited their turn in a receiving line during a state-dinner reception for Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. That is to say, they got close enough to do some life-threatening damage to Obama — with, say, a ceramic knife or other nonmetallic weapon.
